Relationships
Main Description

Whenever a change is triggered in the system, the first step would be to identify the application configuration items and infrastructure configuration items that are impacted due to the change. The Asset Manager must identify the existing assets which get impacted or the new assets required, due to the change.

If the change is due to introduction of new service, the Configuration Manager must identify all application configuration items and infrastructure configuration items (existing and new) impacted by the change. Relationships between the technology configuration items must also be understood, using the Configuration Management Database. In some cases, the change may be broken into multiple release packages. In which case, the Configuration Manager must identify the individual release units that form a part of the bigger release package.

The Asset Manager must identify and list the assets for the new service. The Asset Manager should ensure that assets for new service, including licenses, are managed according to the statutory and regulatory requirements and contractual obligations.
